TomB_tx Posted September 12, 2013 Share #1  Posted September 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed the photos showing central flare with the new 50 APO Summicron, and it remind me of a similar issue with an old 90 Elmar I picked up on eBay. Almost every photo showed strong central flare, even after I had it cleaned by Youxin Ye. Welcome, dear visitor! Looking at the dismounted lens, it was pretty obvious there was a strong internal reflection off a smooth black surface near the back of the mount: Later I picked up a "junk" 90 Elmar, and of course found the ridged baffle that was missing from my lens: Just inserting the baffle made quite a difference: So internal surfaces can make quite a difference.
