This shot was taken in Uda Walawe National Park, Sri Lanka, using a Leica-M 50 Elmar collapsible f2.8 fitted on an infra-red converted NEX-7 by Kolari Vision. Leica lens fitted via Novo M-NEX adaptor, manual focus, 1/800, ISO200

 

Converted from raw in CS5 + Exposure 5.

thanks, thanks, thanks! So kind & appreciative. I thought I might be shot down for posting from a non-leica camera but that little collapsible Elmarit is an awesomely sharp lens. It was a very luck shot also plus the uv intensity was very high that afternoon. The ir separated the distracting vegetation from the elephant's dark, almost black skin & brought out all the tones & detail. Yes, Stu, you are right, Uda Walawe National Park! (I did finally reply to your post on the other elephant pic last night). I was moving rapidly between this camera & the X-Vario & this one missed the very infant elephant that appeared just momentarily (seen in the other shot). You will also notice that in this pic, the facing elephant is in fact a young tusker. The Park Warden guiding us was also very surprised & happy to see this!
