Greetings!

Each time after leading our Special Cultural/Photographic Expeditions, I'd make a "photo-diary" with snapshots taken with a little pocket-sized Leica point & shoot camera… those images are just for that purpose - snapshots for a photo-dirary of that trip…

But after our fascinating 2010 October "Taklimakan Desert Expedition" (http://photoart.chebucto.org/photos-folder/2010_Taklimakan%20Desert_Expedition_PhotoDiary.pdf), I did not make a photo-diary… the reason was that I felt my snapshots were not what-so-ever up to par to represent the rich & colourful culture/nature we had experienced and enjoyed during our 4,000km journey across & around the World's second largest desert…

Until few days ago, two of our participants of that journey from Vancouver Island who are visiting Nova Scotia, we met again here in Halifax, Ray and Judith told me how much they enjoyed the travel in 2010… and also sent to me the below note: (quoted here, with their permission)

----------

Our trip to Xinjiang with Yau-Sun was the best trip we have ever taken. We went to places that no “tourist tour” would ever have taken us, and we experienced real life in the off-the-beaten-track villages. The opportunities for photography were fabulous. The vast and haunting Taklamakan desert, joyous Tajik weddings, yurts in the foothills of the stunning Kunlun Mountain range, the hustling and sense-assaulting Kashgar market ….so many memories captured in our photographs.

It is a trip we will never, ever forget.

Judith and Ray's compliment really moved me, and prompted me to act for this much due late photo-diary for a truly - "Gone, But not Forgotten" experience…
