W.Haven summitar 5cm f 1.2

Recommended Posts

These items are called "defaced", a common practice regarding WWII military items.

This is the reason why "original untouched" have a very high value while the defaced ones have only a fraction of it.

Regarding your lens: yes it's an original lens from the batch to W.haven of 16.06.43, a very rare lens and a total shame that was modified.

Remember that considering that the rear ring was abraded, this fact could change the focus of the lens.

You can still post a photo of the rear part for a better opinion regarding this point.

I hope this helps, best regards.

Never heard about a "summitar 5cm f 1.2 from the W.Haven batch".

Thought a summitar 5 cm got a maximum aperture of 2.0.

Can the experts give some hints?

Indeed! I think Rucky was referring to an F.2 Summitar batch.

There was one and only one batch of 30 grey Kriegsmarine Leica IIICK W.haven delivered on 16.06.43 with n.9839.

Only three of these cameras are known to exist: n.389583, n.389594, n.389595 (all published, see: Wehrmacht Leica/J.Lager - Classic Camera B.&W. magazine n. 83 and VIDOM n.103).

BUT: there were a number of lenses, still delivered with the same 9839 delivery, I mean 5cm. Summitar and 2,8cm. Hektor.

cheers.
