lct Posted August 31, 2013 Share #21 Â Posted August 31, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not a must have at all from 28 to 135 in my experience but usefull to bring in your bag if you shoot wider, longer or out of the accuracy range of the rangefinder, let alone for macro works or if you have sight problems of course. All in all a welcome addition but a mediocre one due to black out times after exposures and the slow refresh rate of the camera IMHO.

k-hawinkler Posted September 1, 2013 Share #25  Posted September 1, 2013 Where??  Adorama: Olympus Optical Viewfinder VF-2 - BLACK $169.00  That's the price I paid.  BTW, OMD = Olympus OM-D E-M5 m4/3 sensor camera. A superb tool. Has 5-axis In-Body-Image-Stabilization IBIS that works extremely well. I have no problem shooting AF virtual 600 mm FF handheld. Or Handheld, 1/3s, OOC JPG, shot with Leica WATE 16-18-21/4 M lens. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted September 1, 2013 Share #27 Â Posted September 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just doing the maths thats almost 1/2 the price of a Leica viewfinder............but are they exactly the same apart from the name tag, and if not why spend 5000 quid on a camera and then go cheap on the EVF...........doesn't make sense to me:p
HeinzX Posted September 1, 2013 Share #28 Â Posted September 1, 2013 The EVF 2 is not a must, but a big help in some situations and for people, which have some problems with their eyes (as I have). The Olympus part is not so ugly as the Leica one with ist huge LEICA on it and half the price. According to my knowledge it is just the same from the technical point of view. keithlaban.co.uk Posted September 1, 2013 Share #29 Â Posted September 1, 2013 If the M240 didn't have the option to use an EVF I wouldn't buy it.

Only Leica clientele will pay double for the same EVF WITH the logo. But also 2k more for a camera WITHOUT the logo. They got them right where they like 'em - over a barrell, trousers down. But both parties are happy with their roll, so no harm no foul I guess? Not for me, my EVF is Olympus and proud of it.
algrove Posted September 1, 2013 Share #32 Â Posted September 1, 2013 Me too. I also have a hybrid one with no name or logo on it. Even Leica HQ liked it. I told them I was ready for the M-240 Monochrom. Good laughs all around.
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted September 1, 2013 Share #33 Â Posted September 1, 2013 Exactly. Same here!Karl.........so since you have bought it, how often do you use it????

algrove Posted September 2, 2013 Share #35 Â Posted September 2, 2013 I use it more than I do not use it. Really depends on shoot and lens. I just leave it on for critical shoots and when using wide lenses and lenses like Noctilux. Â It's hybrid since the Olympus name is not on it. Acetoned it off for the Monochrom look so to speak. Bought it for US169 net after Oly $80 rebate. Strange they offered the rebate just as the M was coming on line. Â Hey, look I understand what you say about buying the Olympus, but for a leather case instead of soft Oly case and big ugly letters on the Leica one versus small muted Olympus lettering it is the same thing for half the Leica price. I'd rather put the difference into faster SD cards.

intermediatic Posted September 2, 2013 Share #39  Posted September 2, 2013 Can someone convince me of why an EVF is so important? I have my rangefinder and the screen. Wouldn't an EVF be lower resolution? What does it get me? Thinking of buying one… (I had one for my micro four thirds camera and sold it along with the EP-1).
