Urban Wildlife

I'll be the first to admit this isn't a great wildlife photo. The only things remarkable about it are that it was taken through a screen and window into my back yard using the X Vario, and the quality was still very good. It's also interesting in that raccoons are nocturnal creatures, and this was taken shortly after noon. I always wonder how these creatures--this one as big as a medium size dog--manage to survive in the middle of a large city.

Brent,

A fine shot under the circumstances. Perhaps with the urban areas spreading out more, the wildlife are running out of room to live and are actually moving in for food. I live in addition on the fringe of the rural area and have seen fox and even a coyote at night on our street.

I'd love to see fox around here. Then perhaps we wouldn't have so many rabbits eating our garden.

Bryant, as you say, pretty decent with the "filters" in the way. I don't see how the autofocus could work or certainly wouldn't be expecting it to work on a Nikon pro body let alone a Leica X body. Around here a raccoon seen during the day is probably diseased.

Karl, very true about diseased raccoons. Also, I have a friend that has a raccoon problem but it's because his neighbor likes to feed them. That makes them bolder and comfortable around people. Not a good thing.

Good photo I must say.
