F value in Lightroom 5

Dear All,

I noted something in the last week & just wondered if it's normal.

I'm new to manual focus lenses & am using a M240 & Apo Summicron 50mm. When I take pictures with the lens fully open at f 2.0 & transfer them into Lightroom it seems to almost randomly allocate a f value. Usually 2.4 but often 2.8. I know that the lens was at 2.0 because I was testing it as I had my suspicions.

Is this normal? Does Lightroom have a funny way of working it out? Should the information be being transferred correctly, implying a fault with my lens.

Martin

There's no linkage between the lens and the camera body that could supply this information, so the camera makes a 'best guess' using the difference in light intensity between that recorded by the main sensor, and that recorded by the small sensor on the front of the camera. It's not totally accurate, hence the odd results from time to time.
