Guest camera man Posted August 28, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted August 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My camera a film MP with a 0.72 finder has what I think is a problem, that is a paper clip shape appears on the left side of the brightline out of frame but is in focus when the lens is at infinity. The camera has just returned from Germany for this problem but it as not been fixed. The camera has had Mask adjustments and range finder cleaning. Leica are not saying if this problem is normal on a 28mm with a 0.72 finder
Advertisement Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Hi Guest camera man, Take a look here Problem with 0.72 finder and 28mm Summicron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted August 29, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted August 29, 2013 Sounds odd. I can only imagine that a hair or some other foreign body has got into the RF and which comes into view when the RF cam is pushed back. I can't see how it can be a problem caused by your 28 Summicron. If you take the lens off the camera and manually push the roller cam back and forth (also using the frameline selector lever to flip between various frames) can you still see the "paper clip shape"? Guest camera man Posted August 29, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted August 29, 2013 I found out from the good people at Leica Mayfair that this problem is not a fault. It is an issue that the 0.72 VF and the 28mm mask has on the MP and M7 when the lens is at infinity . Only wish Leica Germany had told me!
wattsy Posted August 29, 2013 Share #4  Posted August 29, 2013 I have a 0.72x MP and a 28mm lens – I'll have a look and see if I can see the "problem" you mention.
wattsy Posted August 29, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted August 29, 2013 I can just about see a ghost of the left 28mm frame-line move as you focus the lens towards infinity. Is this the effect that you have been observing? Can't say it is something I would have noticed without looking for it (I tend to only view the framelines subliminally when I'm using an M camera). Guest camera man Posted August 29, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted August 29, 2013 Ian that's it! It came as a bit of a shock when I had just spent 3k on a 28mm Summicron and then I had to send the camera back to Germany. Wish Germany had said it was normal.
