Early one morning in central Panama's moist rain forest we climbed a viewing town placing us well above the jungle canopy. when we got to the top we found several serious birders who must have struggled to bring their gear up the 192 steps, but also a wild raccoon, thoroughly acclimated to humans. it would inspect any unattended package, looking for food and vintage Kodachrome. a furry little fellow with vivid eyes. These as you mentioned will search for their targets and neglect the human species and bite perhaps when being held back from scrutinizing daypacks.
