stuny Posted August 28, 2013 Share #1  Posted August 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Early one morning in central Panama's moist rain forest we climbed a viewing town placing us well above the jungle canopy. when we got to the top we found several serious birders who must have struggled to bring their gear up the 192 steps, but also a wild raccoon, thoroughly acclimated to humans. it would inspect any unattended package, looking for food and vintage Kodachrome. It would also accept petting.  Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Michael Hiles Posted August 28, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted August 28, 2013 Lovely portrait. Trying to pet a local racoon around here could not be advised.
pauledell Posted August 28, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted August 28, 2013 Stuart, Â A great capture of the ravaging raccoon checking out the area for fresh snacks. He has to be rather discriminating for the tourists. Â Paul
Iduna Posted August 28, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted August 28, 2013 Stuart, Â a furry little fellow with vivid eyes. These as you mentioned will search for their targets and neglect the human species and bite perhaps when being held back from scrutinizing daypacks. Thanks for sharing the lively racoon. Karl G Posted August 29, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted August 29, 2013 Very nice "portrait" and the raccoon seems to be in peak shape. We hardly see them anymore as the local population has been decimated by disease.
