Manicouagan1 Posted August 23, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2013 I downloaded the upgrade and tried it out on a set of Monochrom images including interior and exterior architecture, general landscapes and images taken in lots of fog and in dense forests. My quick tests suggest that the new software functions well and in manner to similar processing M9 DNG files. The only Aperture function that I have found that is inoperative is the recovery slider. Being a Mac fan here, pretty happy Apple's Aperture finally supports the Monochrome & M, as it would have been a pain to re-learn everything on Lightroom as all my M9 stuff is on Aperture. I personally like the workflow in Aperture since I'm very adopted in the "Apple thinking way" plus it syncs with all services that i use. I rarely need to "upload" anything outside of Aperture. The database that Aperture uses, and thus i store my photos in is compatible with my backup and encryption-softwares and at the same time is open for read outside of Aperture in case of emergency. I used to be a Lightroom/Phocus + Photoshop aficionado, but after running Hasselblad for a few years with Phocus and the enormous problems that was Phocus/Lightroom and performance on Mac related I did a swap to Aperture as soon as i swapped out the Hasselblad and thus Phocus. It works fine with iPhoto on my first MM pictures from more than a year ago. I don't have Aperture on my traveling MacBook Air, so can't try it. Chris Try pressing alt(option) when you have the "refresh preview" alternative up and you will se it changing to "generate preview" It might work. jeffu Posted August 23, 2013 Share #15 Posted August 23, 2013 Woohoo, works for me. I've been using aperture for years and it's probably more of just what I'm used to, but I prefer the workflow. In very quick tests, it seems to handle the files well. The only difference I am noticing is when it come to noise reduction. In LR the noise reduction seems pretty fantastic, using the luminance slider. In aperture when applying noise reduction, I'm not really seeing any effect at all. What is the version of the update you all have that is working with MM files? its not an Aperture update... RAW support is a system wide thing including the Finder and Preview. I simply re-imported my folder of 2013 photos, then deleted the JPEGs that duplicated the newly imported DNGs. My user profiles on the MM are now set back to DNG only.
