Advertisement Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hi stump4545, Take a look here Summarits vs. 35mm cron v4 and 50 2.8 M elmar. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Marc G. Posted August 7, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted August 7, 2013 35 summarit is optically superior to the version 4 summicron as it is on par with the summicron asph.
wda Posted August 7, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted August 7, 2013 The Elmar collapses making a shorter package. The Summarit lenses are excellent and rather under-rated by those who feel they need the fastest members of the team.
stump4545 Posted August 7, 2013 Author Share #4  Posted August 7, 2013 i dont like the asph look with the monochrom  are the summarits going to give me that same asph look with the monochrom?  if so I will still with 50mm elmar and 35mm cron v4.  thanks! Photoskeptic Posted August 7, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted August 7, 2013 Marc is correct in his observations about the Summarits. I've had the 50 and 75 and they both are very sharp. The bokeh of the 50 really surprised me - very similar to the ASPH. I've sold the 50 because I do have an ASPH, but the 75 is here to stay with my kit. I can assure you no one could tell the difference between the expensive ASPH's and the Summarits at normal viewing distance.
IWC Doppel Posted August 7, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted August 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the 50 2.8 Elmar and really like it for size, weight focussing speed, seems very good technically and has character, a nice lens. I preferred it slightly to the Summicron at f2.8 and onwards. The Summicron is a little more 'polished' in how it renders but the Elmar-M has a little more character on the OOF rendering. Not better but interesting enough to hold it's own IMO.
