Advertisement Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here ND filter for 21 Lux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
suey11 Posted August 3, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted August 3, 2013 I've not got the 21 but use a .6nd filter on my 35 and 50 lux and I'm very happy with it I think the .9 may be a bit too much but that's only my opinion and everyone shoots differently. Would also love to know how you get on with it's high on my next lens list been also toying with the Voigtlander 21mm too but nothing beats Leica. Just the 21mm is a allquard size filter to get hold of
01af Posted August 3, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted August 3, 2013 For shooting a Summilux lens wide open in broad daylight, better get an ND 0.9. In equatorial latitudes like Malaysia, you might even want to consider an ND 1.2 or ND 1.8. Â The Summilux-M 21 mm Asph takes Series 8 filters which are hard to come by these days. Most likely, you'll have to order online, as nowadays local dealers usually don't carry these filters.

Not like I'm jealous.

Paul I already have a 0.9 for the noctilux and my gut feeling is that will be the lens screwed onto the mm 90% of the time
jbb Posted August 4, 2013 Share #9  Posted August 4, 2013 0.9 is available from B+W but they produce it in very small batches I have ordered mine from Foto Huppert, very efficient and very nice  JB  Willkommen bei Foto Huppert

MarkP Posted August 4, 2013 Share #12 Â Posted August 4, 2013 The B+W importer here told me last year when I got the filters I needed for my 21 Summilux that he was advised by B+W that production of Series VIII filters was to be discontinued. If this is true buy up now.

MarkP Posted August 4, 2013 Share #14  Posted August 4, 2013 Mark I emailed B&H so hopefully I will back from them tomorrow  Good luck.  I have multicoated UV & ND series VIII filters and a spare of each for the future Series VIII famine but hopefully production will continue by B+W.  Mine took 10 weeks to arrive after ordering, but I do live at the ends of the earth and they were produced intermittently in batches . MarkP Posted August 4, 2013 Share #16  Posted August 4, 2013 not sure what the MRC stands for  From the Schneider Optics website on B+W filters:  The B+W filter manufacturing company was founded in Berlin in 1947 by business partners Biermann and Weber. In 1985 the merger with the Jos. Schneider Optical Works in Bad Kreuznach expanded the B+W line of products with optical filters for science and technology. It also generated significant progress in multi-layer coating systems (MC). As a result, B+W became the first manufacturer of filters in the world to offer the innovative water- and dirt repelling MRC multi-layer coating process, which, in addition to its reflection-preventing qualities is also regarded as being especially scratch-resistant. jaapv Posted August 5, 2013 Share #17 Â Posted August 5, 2013 And if B+W doesn't have it, chances are that Heliopan will. Six different greyfilters incliding a vario one also in series VIII. (page 10). Strangely enough not in series VII btw. http://www.heliopan.de/wp-content/uploads/Preisliste.pdf
