chrism Posted August 3, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2013 It comes with a free download of LR (currently LR5) and SilverEfexPro. Color Efex - no (but why would you want it for the Monochrom?) Chris

This picture was processed with CEP Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! andybarton Posted August 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 3, 2013 If you already have it, you don't need it again. However, I assume that the example you have given was processed from a colour original, not a black and white one.
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 3, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 3, 2013 If you already have it, you don't need it again. e. Running our of copys to install on home computers so an extra copy would come in handy
andybarton Posted August 3, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 3, 2013 Well, you still don't get it bundled. The information page on the Leica website will tell you everything that comes in the box.

Yes the original picture was in color so I converted it to b&w with SEP then finished it in CEP
Jeff S Posted August 3, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 3, 2013 ...then finished it in CEP And how would this matter regarding MM files? Jeff
andybarton Posted August 3, 2013 Share #9 Posted August 3, 2013 If you convert a greyscale file into RGB, you can use CEP. But there's no colour information for it to work with of course. I am sure that it could all be done in Silver Effects Pro instead. I just prefer to use Photoshop
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 3, 2013 Share #10 Posted August 3, 2013 And how would this matter regarding MM files? Jeff Sorry Jeff I don't understand
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 3, 2013 Share #11 Posted August 3, 2013 So when you covet a color file to b&w it still keeps the color files is that correct whereas a MM file has only b&w files
andybarton Posted August 3, 2013 Share #12 Posted August 3, 2013 No. Convert a colour file to greyscale and all the colour information goes. If you convert it back to RGB, there is no colour information left. The MM doesn't record ANY colour information at all. That's the point.
Jeff S Posted August 3, 2013 Share #13 Posted August 3, 2013 Sorry Jeff I don't understand Well, I don't know what CEP can do vs Silver Efex, since I don't bother with either, but without color channel information, it would seem only the latter would be necessary for you. esquire53 Posted August 3, 2013 Share #14 Posted August 3, 2013 I think most of the local contrast and midtone adjustments in CEP are the same in SEP, there are a lot of presets in CEP which fork fine with b/w as well
Jeff S Posted August 3, 2013 Share #15 Posted August 3, 2013 ... there are a lot of presets in CEP which fork fine with b/w as well But are these dependent on color channel information? Jeff
sanyasi Posted August 3, 2013 Share #16 Posted August 3, 2013 I use color efex pro with mm files on occasion. Some of cep's filters are useful, including three contrast filters, two or three vignetting filters, graduated neutral density filter, solarization, and filters that permit tinting. Don't use everyday, but there is some useful stuff. Jack Siegel
Jeff S Posted August 3, 2013 Share #17 Posted August 3, 2013 And none of that comes with Silver Efex? Jeff
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 3, 2013 Share #18 Posted August 3, 2013 And none of that comes with Silver Efex? Jeff Maybe it does but like Fred blogs said I too like to use the presets in CEP to fine tune my b$ w pictures just part of my work flow all done like you jaap in photoshop CS6
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 3, 2013 Share #19 Posted August 3, 2013 Jack not Fred bloggs
Jeff S Posted August 3, 2013 Share #20 Posted August 3, 2013 ...I too like to use the presets in CEP to fine tune my b$ w pictures But Jack uses the MM. I thought you were commenting about your b/w color conversions from another digital M; that's the point of all my questions. No matter, as I don't use the products, but I was just curious.
