It comes with a free download of LR (currently LR5) and SilverEfexPro. Color Efex - no (but why would you want it for the Monochrom?)

Chris

Thanks Chris.

Why would I want CEP with monochrome............ I use it all the time. This picture was processed with CEP

If you already have it, you don't need it again.

However, I assume that the example you have given was processed from a colour original, not a black and white one.

Yes the original picture was in color so I converted it to b&w with SEP then finished it in CEP

If you convert a greyscale file into RGB, you can use CEP. But there's no colour information for it to work with of course.

I am sure that it could all be done in Silver Effects Pro instead.

I just prefer to use Photoshop

So when you covet a color file to b&w it still keeps the color files is that correct whereas a MM file has only b&w files

No. Convert a colour file to greyscale and all the colour information goes. If you convert it back to RGB, there is no colour information left.

The MM doesn't record ANY colour information at all. That's the point.

Sorry Jeff I don't understand

Well, I don't know what CEP can do vs Silver Efex, since I don't bother with either, but without color channel information, it would seem only the latter would be necessary for you.

I use color efex pro with mm files on occasion. Some of cep's filters are useful, including three contrast filters, two or three vignetting filters, graduated neutral density filter, solarization, and filters that permit tinting. Don't use everyday, but there is some useful stuff.

And none of that comes with Silver Efex?

Jeff

Maybe it does but like Fred blogs said I too like to use the presets in CEP to fine tune my b$ w pictures just part of my work flow all done like you jaap in photoshop CS6

But Jack uses the MM. I thought you were commenting about your b/w color conversions from another digital M; that's the point of all my questions.

No matter, as I don't use the products, but I was just curious.
