There is only ONE solution.

Never sell a leica lens.

That is the only way to get peace of mind. Then just keep buying them until you got at least one of each focal length.

Sorry for the joke, but I cannot think of an easy solution.

Based on several lengthy visits, IMO, Paris is a 35mm City.

Spot on George.

My dear wife and I where in Paris last year (july) and loved it.

With the M7 and the 35mm f2 asph and the 50mm 1.4 asph I found the 35mm was the best, hardly used the 50mm.

As well as the M7 I used a Canon DSLR and the Leica 21-35mm vario- with a crop factor = 33- 56mm was perfect for my needs.

Like you LCT, I am also a COLOUR person, monochrome doesn't do it for me.

Ken.

For inspiration for some of you

I ended up that 50mm and 24mm is the kit I'd get. I took slowest and it includes tab for best ergonomics and fast focusing.

50mm Summarit 2.5

24mm Elmar 3.8

Call it for day. I can finally die as happy person.

Away for 4 days last week. As an experiment, took Monochrom, M9, 21-28-50-90 and usual clobber in my Monochrom-9 bag. Way too heavy all round.

In London and Paris next month - trying to decide whether to leave the M9 or Monochrom behind. My sense is that the M9 will push me towards taking general shots, whereas the Monochrom will make me work harder. Even though only taking B&W means I will miss the option of colour, will it matter?

To me I see big cities in B&W. I find I use the 35 more than the 50 and the 21 or 24 more than the 28 even though they require a VF since I find my frame guessing to be lacking at critical moments. Seldom use the 90 in big cities. P. Turnley changed my lens selections for city/street work and then Overgaard changed them back somewhat. I always take at least one fast (1.4) lens.

no, if you are that kind of guy-it will never end. (I am same kind)

My preferred lenses at the moment are:

50/1.4

35/1.4 FLE

75/2.0

21/3.4

Even though I also believe to not really needing f1.4 it seems I prefer the rendering of the 50/1.4asph over the 50/2.0 even at slower apartures.

At the moment I am tempted to add a chrome 35 Summicron asph.

21mm I found out is my preferred UWA. I had a WATE but 21 is as wide as I need. I also use 21mm much more often than 24mm - therefore might sell my 24mm.

I allways change my mind if I prefer 28 or 35mm fov (however with the M the 35mm frames are much better to see/use)

My perfect kit would/will be:

21mm Summilux

24mm Summilux

35mm Summilux FLE

50mm Noctilux ASPH

50mm APO-Summicron

50mm Summitar

75mm Summilux

75mm APO-Summicron

90mm APO-Summicron

90mm Macro-Elmar

135mm Zeiss Sonnar f2

I may even just stop there. Or maybe not.

Why not an all Leica lineup? Just cheat on the 135 to 180.
