I was quite uncomfortable getting as close to it as I did. I've never seen one this large. Welcome, dear visitor! Oooohh..!! OUCH..!! Talking from experience? Yes, a hornet. Very nasty sting that can make you feel quite ill. Great shot, btw..they are fast movers.
