Another set of lenses

In my opinion, a 'set' is what you carry with, on-the-go. This need not contain more than 2 lenses (one mounted and one in the pocket or bag).

For me, a set is one of:

  • 28 Cron and 50 Lux
  • 21 SEM and 50 Lux
  • 28 Cron and 90 Elmarit-M

The OP already has enough lenses to make multiple sets, I think.

And here I thought I was the only one to allude myself into getting more lenses for the same sort of reasons. Good for you!

My "travel light kit" would be the 21SEM, 35 FLE (if speed needed), APO 50/2.0, & the 90/4.0 Macro. The ultimate kit for me would be 3-4 lenses with all lenses taking 39mm filters. The 50 and 90 above make that come true. The 35/2.0 is a 39. What is the widest lens that takes 39mm filters?

Must be the current 28/2.8. Maybe reason to get one.

I rarely use filters, sometimes ND on Nocti and on Lux 24; both very unique, cannot be used on anything else.

The other set is targeted for leisure mainly, so must be as small and simple as possible. Filters are not necessary. Even bag is not.

BTW I recently bought Scarabaeus holster; great way to carry M with small lens, highly recommended.

I had APO 50 on test here - yes, it's fabulous lens but not for me, to perfect. Fully understand satisfied owners of this lens though.

I'm going to test new Voigtlaender 50/1.5, heard some very positive opinions. Cheap, small, fast. Tests might change my minds in terns of another 50mm.

For wide I took a plunge for Elmarit 28.

Am I lens addicted? Maybe better to sell everything and buy Cron 50 as the only lens? :)

Cheers,

Marek

OK, I will study LTM versions. Thanks.

Now that I think about it, I use 39mm filters with that lens but it has no filter thread so I have a small piece of spongy sticky tape stuck to the inside of the fixed hood and wedge the filter against that, which has never caused me a problem.

PS, apologies to the OP for going off topic.:o

Pete.

I will research that one.

I am surprised with you owning a Nocti and a 24/1.4 to say it is too perfect.

Nice and small.

The 50 cron and not the apo cron?

Both are far from being perfect, especially wide open. Thanks to imperfection of Nocti (DOF field curvature) I can choose subject from flat scene and Nocti will "pop up" it, looks like some "3D effect". Very subjective, but exists. Nothing like that on APO Cron.

The 50 cron and not the apo cron?.

I'm Leica shooter for already 25 years, ~15 years with Cron 50 only. You know, kind of well known friend ;)

Pete; .apologizes not needed. My "problem" is almost solved, so discussion naturally turned to cheat chatting (including me).
