Why I don't need an alarm clock in the mornings or a security system for the house with "Linus" around. Share yours, if you will.:)

Took the picture this morning while I was having my morning routine of drinking a cup of Nespresso at the patio while catching up on my emails.

A timely thread indeed, since we have just taken on a new puppy, it saves me starting one myself.

She is a "Pet Rescue" dog, mostly Staffie, maybe a little Border Collie, maybe a little Jack Russell. Who can say? (to quote whatshername from AbFab.)

My last dog was a Border Collie, one of those irritating Border Collies with a 120 word vocabulary. It is humbling having a dog that is smarter relative to the rest of her species than you are relative to yours. "What part of 'Throw the stick dont you understand?'"

Her demise at 14 1/2 left me free to return to Australia from Canada. In a better organised universe dogs would live as long as tax collectors do now, and tax collectors would live as long as dogs do now.

This one will be a boat dog, and is settling in brilliantly, in a week she is already using the pooping mat, does not crap on the dock, or pee on ropes, loves going ashore in the dinghy.

Another rescue dog, posing for me in the garden. Picked up on the streets of Los Angeles, now a Santa Fe resident. A border collie mix, we think.

Actually, Asian.

He is a Tibetan Mastiff.

Well, I thought he looked fit for the mountains. He's a wonderful looking dog.

Mine is rather smaller. Half Yorkshire Terrier, half Chihuahua. She is small and looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth but she is fearless and faithful, like all terriers.

As she is English by birth, she is partial to a good cup of tea, naturally....

Our (former) barn dog Jasper. He's now a house dog after $3500 in knee surgery.
