summer alongside the fields

these are the first experiments with daylight and a flash being bounced against a handheld reflector. The heat of the early evening was blazing in the countryside and we had to suffer many attacks from bloodsucking insects.

My Canon 5D MKII was mounted with my Elmarit R 180 mm, which was recently under service in Solm. and since then it is as good as new in its optical quality. I am working at a new setup consisting of a flashlight which is being bounced against a handheld reflector as supportive light of day light, specially some sort of frontlight.

Come along, no insect will bite you. enjoy the walk

The photos of the umbellifera are the better as the technique described successfully isolates them from the background. This separation is enhanced when the added bonus of rim-lighting occurs. Many thanks for bringing this technique to forum members' attention.

Paul,

thanks a lot for your comment which always helps. I myself was surprised by the result of the 3rd shot when it came out in LR.

Bill Schneider

thanks for your encouraging comment. I'll certainly do more exercises. It took me a while to start working with different dvices and this was the reason I did not post so much during the lat weeks.

Karl,

thanks for taking time and commenting.

Bill Allsopp,

many thanks for commenting, its appreciated very much

Orient XI,

I am happy, you liked the photos and your comment concerning the technique. For my purposes I'll work more on this, I bought a second flashlight which can be fixed on the tripod so that I can get even more substance of structure, texture etc.

Stuart,

thanks for walking by and leaving a nice comment.
