LeicaBraz Posted July 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have just bought a scanner (Epson V700). From what I've read, VueScan is the way to go. Now my questions is whether I should buy the Pro version or the Standard one. What are the merits? I mostly scan black and white film. Thanks
Advertisement Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hi LeicaBraz, Take a look here Vue Scan. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted July 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2013 Pro. Free lifetime upgrades. I bought Vuescan in the late 90s. Hasn't cost me a penny since.
sanyasi Posted July 16, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 16, 2013 I looked into buying a Nikon scanner, but never got around to it. What I recall was that the difference in the grades of their scanners largely came down to level of automation rather than resolution-related issues. Since I wasn't going to be doing a whole lot of scanning, I focused on the cheaper models. I don't know about the Epson scanners, but I would not be surprised if that is where the difference in grades lies. Good luck.
stunsworth Posted July 16, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2013 I don't know about the Epson scanners, but I would not be surprised if that is where the difference in grades lies The OP is referring to the two different versions of Vuescan rather than the scanner itself. The pro version is worth the extra just for the perpetual upgrades IMHO.
