M lens quality - loosing it or getting it....

I think I keep a very good set of Leica M lenses... and really enjoy all of them for their charm. 50cron (last version), Lux 35 asph pre-FLE, 28cron asph being among these.

Years ago I kept a mint 90 Elmar-C 4.0, but sold it when buying an Elmarit-M 90 ( the Elmarit being just great...).

And I guess I have spent a lot of time reading books & forum!since... confirming that... yes, I do keep "the best stuff"!

However, I never forgot the handy size of the Elmar-C... And when I got the opportunity to require one again, I did. And right now I really enjoy this 200 euro lens just as much as the other 2000 euro + lenses I keep...

Am I missing it... i.e: not "appreciating" the "better" lenses as I should be.... or am I really on a good track after alle more appreciative about photography and what any photographic tool actually can do? I have some good feelings about this...

With all regards,

Stein K S

Very good lens indeed if it performs like my M-Rokkor 90/4 but the tiny Macro-Elmar 90/4 is even better. There is no free lunch but superb pics can be shot with more modest lenses like your Elmar-C, my Rokkor or the old Elmar 90/4. Do we need the best? I don't but using it is a lot of fun.

I have the 21mm Super-Elmar, but I have kept my old 21mm Super-Angulon. The newer lens is undoubtedly more competent technically but the older (and far less expensive) lens has virtues which I am unwilling to ignore, and I really enjoy using it still. Enjoy your Elmar-C and although it may not perform quite as well as the Elmarit-M I'm sure that it will produce very good results. As I said in another thread, I think that the ability to use equipment which is enjoyable to use often leads to better imagery.....

Hi to all

And thanks for all comments!

I just felt the urge to appologize for some quite stupid looking mis-spellings in my thread! The iPad is really bugging me with its "proposals"...

Regards,

Stein
