Rick,

Did those ladies have 50 BMG M2 guns mounted on their shopping trolleys. They look pretty scary. Great shot.

It is my understanding that the optical cell on the LTM 12mm CV is in every respect identical as far as design goes, to the one on the LM version. However in my experience there is a huge sample variation in CV lenses, which can account for quite different behaviours between two lenses. I believe there was an update in the formula for the 15mm CV from the LTM version to the LM, hence its being sold as a Mk2 version.

Those 'ladies' are fantastic.. they are segways with trolleys built around them and they have engine sound effects and music they dance to. Genius!

12 and 15 CV get magenta corners on my M9 coded as 21 2.8. Corner Fix repairs them perfectly.

No I do not like the extra step.

Actually by fate I found that using the lens UNCODED is actually better for cornerfix. Well - on the M240 it is..

I had manually coded my 12mm as the 21 f2.8 but the new M didn't recognise the coding. However I didn't want to have to be changing from automatic to manual lens detection every time.

After speaking with the Sandy (the author of CF) he actually mentioned that an uncoded or unrecognised lens works best because you dont have to do a profile for each f stop like you would on a coded lens.

I figured that regardless of the coding I would still be using CF anyway to get rid of the magenta and vignette, so why even bother coding the lens manually or with sharpies etc.

May as well shoot au natural and let CornerFix work it's magic.

Now I leave the lens detection to automatic and it picks up when i'm using my Leica glass and it reports as 'uncoded' when I use my 12mm.

I'm getting used to the extra step - I use Apple Aperture FYI too.

This thread is offering very useful information on lens interactions with the M240. I ask, please, if anyone has used the 24mm Elmar on the M240 and can report any issues with red edge or any form of coloration artifacts. Also, am I correct in my impression that the 18mm Super Elmar is just fine on the M240? Thank you, Tom

" The nearest equivalent to the 40 Nokton is the Summicron C, which are now getting old (around 35 years) and even when new, was not one of Leica's top ten lenses, as I assume it was built to a budget for the CL."

Maybe you had a bad example.

I have had several 40mm Summicrons since my first CL and I use one now on my M9 (it brings up the 35mm outline and recently had a CLA). It is a good lens and Erwin Puts was quite polite about it. When it was being CLA'd I bought a 40mm Nokton to use instead and found that I did not like its images so was glad to get the Summicron back.

I have previously used the 50mm f1.5 CV lens and liked it and the ultrawide Heliars (despite the need for Cornerfix - indeed yesterday I bought a 12mm).

Philip:)
