MarkP Posted July 13, 2013 Share #21 Â Posted July 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) All good techniques Exile. Â I often do as you do and rotate toe PL filter and look for the maximum drop in shutterspeed on the Auto setting however I often don't want maximum polarization. Â I have a tiny B+W 30.5mm PL filter which I kept after selling my Contax T3. I have identified the position of maximum polarization on all of my PL filters for Leica, and the 30.5mm 'eye-filter', and marked the position on all the filters at 12:00. Â So when out and about the PL 'eye-filter' is in my pocket until I need it. I hold the 'eye-fiter' up to my eye to determine the degree of polarization that I want and set the angle of the mark on the PL filter attached to the lens to the corresponding position to the mark on the 'eye-filter'. Â Not perfect but overall works very well, and takes only a few seconds.
