pgk Posted December 3, 2013 Share #41 Â Posted December 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Are you sure about this? Respected Leica reviewer Sean Reid has it the other way around, he states that: "the 35 Cron ASPH is more resistant to flare that either the 35 Summarit or 35 Skopar." Respected or otherwise, I've owned both the Summarit and Summicron and in the 'real world' the Summarit is the most flare resistant in my actual experience. The Summicron v.4 is small too and whilst older designwise, is by no means a poor performer. To get things in perspective, Leica simply don't make bad lenses today and many of their older designs can hold their own against new lenses too. Â So I can recommend all three and other Leica 35s too - inc the 35 pre-asph Summilux and pre-FLE Summilux aspheric too (I own both). These are both also excellent performers as well although the pre-aspheric is comparatively soft wide open. But does this matter? Well only if you are shooting wide open, and of course the faster lenses will flare more largely because they are faster with bigger front elements. Guest Ansel_Adams Posted December 3, 2013 Share #42 Â Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks. I have purchased the Cron ASPH since posting and it is proving to be very nice indeed and particularly enjoy using it between f2-f4 - not noticed any issues with flare.
