recommendation for a 50mm f2

For an inexpensive and fun alternative, check out the collapsible 50mm f2.8. For just a few hundred bucks, you'll get something with build-quality that was unparalleled during its time and optically outstanding in many ways. It's technical shortfalls are actually now strengths given the appeal of vintage lenses. And its extremely light such that you hardly feel it on the camera.

I don't have this particulr lens, but I have the Elmar 3.5, which I adore. I know you asked for a faster lens, though.

I also am a big fan of the older summicron f2 dual range. This is one of only 2 or 3 "micro-lenses" that Leica has ever made. An engineering master piece for its time and a joy to own and use. Any issue regarding rendering just check out the pictures of flowers that I just posted in the wildlife section last night. In this case, you can't credit the photographer b/c I aint really very good!! :D

I also own the latest summilux ashperical, which is also an outstanding lens in every way. But there is something about the older lenses that distinguish them and keep me using them frequently...
