Leica X Vario Photos

So you can use LR5? My old iMac survived upgrade to Snow Leopard but I haven't ventured further.

Yes, that's right. I had been putting off upgrading the OS of my iMac as Snow Leopard was working well. I had also been putting off moving from Photoshop and ACR to Lightroom. So I bit the bullet and did both and both moves went very smoothly. I've had zero problems with Mountain Lion and I'm getting to grips with Lightroom with the help of Julieanne Kost's excellent video tutorials at Getting Started with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 | Adobe TV The processing tools are basically the same but I had never got on too well with the file management system until I watched Ms Kost's videos.

If your iMac is capable of upgrading to Mountain Lion, there's no reason not to as far as I can see.

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to test the Vario X for some hours in Munich with Mr. Olaf Wolf (Leica, Solms).

Although Mr. Wolf demonstrated the better resolution of the finest details in editing in Capture 1.7, I have processed the DNGs with Lightroom 5, since I never was able to get used to the workflow of Capture One.

The graffities were taken at the beginning of our photo walk in front of the Acadamy of Arts in Munich:

Though I don't own an X Vario, I think I would certainly like to.

Many thanks to all of you for your photographs, as well as your links to other parts of the forum and to Flickr. It's really great to see how beautifully this oddly maligned camera performs when used by those with a good eye.

Very impressive!

@Thomas, which exposure times were still possible with X-Vario at this weak stage light?

I set the ISO to 800 and fixed the camera to 1/60 at F6.4.

A few more shots in better quality are found here

I tried higher ISO to get quicker shutter speed as the band was moving on stage - but I wasn't satisfied with the noise.

let's start with some portraits. all OOC.

For the 1st one, my Model was under harsh sun backlight, I used the Built in flash as a filler. Another outstanding tool many user are simply unaware of it's potential.

there many more to come from this underrated super Camera!

hope you enjoy them... your comments are welcome.

Here we go, 2 portraits and 1 macro all OOC.

I'm having too much problems posting to this forum.

other than commenting, I've been unable to post any pics. don't know about this one yet, hope it will make it through!

The camera is a stunner, forget about reviews and charts guys, this is beyond that. What this camera is capable of exceeds the sum of its specs. seeing is believing.

enjoy

I agree. This camera is much more than the sum of its specs. Your pictures are first rate.

Posting photos is easy once you know how. Here’s a link to a post that explains how to do it:
