I just received my Voigtlander Nokton 40mm.. Awesome lens...

but I have this issue.. Don't if it is like that. Never had a voigtlander before.

When I focus everything is okay.. but when I have to do a little adjusment to the focus, just a tiny bit .. I can't like it's stuck.. so then I have to push harder but then it is moveable again but totally out of focus. I'll try to make a video of it...

Anyone else with this weird problem? It's like the ring is hard to move for little adjusments.. as long as I do big movements it's very smooth.. but for little adjusments the ring won't move that easily anymore.

Thanks

Jesse

I'm not so sure it just needs breaking in, I think it may be more about the way it is assembled.

I have a 35mm Summicron ASPH that was notchy from new, big sweeps of focus were OK but small shifts stiff. I took the mount off to code the lens and after I put it back together the stiff focus was gone. So, same mounting flange, just taken off and screwed back on again. Which made me think that my 40mm Nokton that also had a stiff notchy focus action may be suffering from the same problem. So all I did was loosen the screws of the flange and re-tighten them but slowly and carefully, opposite to opposite and a bit at a time. And it fixed my Nokton. So you could try that.

Wow thanks for the idea. I used it quite a lot now and it's almost "over". Stiffness is gone on the small corrections. Like you say.. big sweeps is smooth.

Only when I focus smaller than 1 meter it sometimes get stiff there.. Then I need two fingers to push it back. If it doesn't go away I just try your trick.

Many thanks guys :)!
