pauledell Posted June 6, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 6, 2013 Stuart, A fine set with great timing, framing, color and sharpness. What is that around its neck in the last shot?
Karl G Posted June 6, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 6, 2013 Just wonderful series. Number Four is really incredible not only for the iridescent throat on the male and the seemingly direct stare, but also for the demonstration of the flight dynamics of these incredible flyers, executing either a maximum deceleration from forward flight or a reverse acceleration upon leaving the feeding station. What is that around its neck in the last shot? K-H, Sorry I gave this series credit to the wrong guy. Is that iridescent colored ring a trait of this bird? k-hawinkler Posted June 8, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted June 8, 2013 Thanks everybody. As always the feeback is very much apprecisted. Paul, Thanks for asking. Some male hummingbirds have these flashy iridescent colors around their throat. I am not aware of any females that have it. But I am not very knowledgable yet about these hummers. Of course, females can also have iridescent plumage on their backs.
