Advertisement Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Hi A miller, Take a look here The hard life of a wife of a street-vendor (SOHO, NYC). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted June 4, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2013 Adam, A great street shot with the composition, colors and sharpness. At least she has a space to rest. Paul
Karl G Posted June 4, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 4, 2013 That is a pretty wife and smile and as Paul said, it beats sitting on the street although I am sure it could get very hot in that van.
A miller Posted June 4, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) Thanks, Paul and Karl. I've tweaked the white balance slightly to be somewhere between auto and cloudy. The reduction of the blue is more pleasing to my eyes. But perhaps I've stared at this too much for one day. Thoughts are welcome. Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted June 4, 2013 Share #5 Posted June 4, 2013 Adam - Very nice. I prefer the balnce of the original.
Karl G Posted June 4, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 4, 2013 Adam, when I zoom the pic some and rotate the van floor straight, essentially cropping the picture to the open van doors, roof and bottom I get another very interesting picture. See if you like it as well.
A miller Posted June 4, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted June 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Karl - My mind is wide open and I'd love to try this. Let me get home and in front of my computer screen and I'll give it a whirl and post what I come up with. Thanks again for the consideration! Best, Adam
mikeleng Posted June 4, 2013 Share #8 Posted June 4, 2013 Adam, there's nothing wrong with the first one . Excellent Mike
A miller Posted June 4, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted June 4, 2013 Thanks, Mike. I continued to toil with the white balance and think I overdid the warmth in my second version above. I still think the first picture is too blue for the effect that I am after, which is a 70's-style film look with a skylight filter. Attached is a third version that may work. Welcome, dear visitor! Personally, I like the full scene just b/c I like the aged and weathered-look of the van as well as the fact that it is parked on the side of the street. But the woman is certainly the focal point and she is rather striking in her pose and gaze at me. Lucky for me, my wife was beside me when I shot the picture and she actually likes the shot; hence my ability to edit it
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Karl G Posted June 4, 2013 Share #10 Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) Adam, that close and makes for an interesting sub picture. I too was impressed by the subject's attractiveness and seductive smile and her languid pose amidst the clutter and debris, all framed by the van doorway. Nothing wrong with the first version either, Adam. In fact, all the qualities of the subject I mentioned above are even more incongruous in the setting of a busy street.
