Advertisement Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Hi Northwest Wanderer, Take a look here Morning Doves. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Karl G Posted June 2, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2013 Bill, We see them all the time at the feeder, they are very attractive birds. Nice picture, you probably have captured a mated pair sitting so close together with space to move out if they desired. If you see them preen one another, you can be almost certain. Northwest Wanderer Posted June 2, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted June 2, 2013 Thanks Karl, They are always together so I imagine you're right about them being a pair. I enjoy seeing them.
fotografr Posted June 2, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 2, 2013 Sweet. They are good company to have around. Unfortunately, our esteemed legislators here in Wisconsin decided they would also be good to eat so they established a dove hunting season. Brilliant!! Northwest Wanderer Posted June 2, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 2, 2013 Sweet. They are good company to have around. Unfortunately, our esteemed legislators here in Wisconsin decided they would also be good to eat so they established a dove hunting season. Brilliant!! Brent, that's crazy to hunt these birds. Heck, there isn't enough meat on one of these birds to warrant killing them as a game bird. Besides, they are nice to have around. My kill crazy state also has a season on them. At least they are safe at my place.
k-hawinkler Posted June 2, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 2, 2013 Bill, Great shot of the Mourning Doves. We have quite a few around here as well. They make a very characteristic sound that one cannot mistake. Thanks.
Northwest Wanderer Posted June 2, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted June 2, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks K-H, I really enjoy watching them. I keep my horse's water though filled to the top so the birds can drink from it. That helps to keep them around.
