Doc Henry Posted August 15, 2016 Author Share #19903 Posted August 15, 2016 My fibre paper is due for delivery today for my home darkroom, the final ingredient so I can put it all to use, very excited! Now I'm trying to balance my growing interest in C-41 (including possibly printing one day since I have a rotary processor/colour enlarger head), my desire to get the good stuff on B&W (to print right now) and a burning interest in E-6 (which I've never even shot!) For now, I'm trying to ignore E-6 as it feels like it might be one ball too many to juggle. Agh! So little time! I'm praying Fuji don't pull the plug on any more E-6 before I even get there. One from earlier this year, HP5+, on a very stormy day. Cooge very nice capture in this stormy picture Well done Best Henry

chrism Posted August 15, 2016 Share #19906 Posted August 15, 2016 I'm still nibbling away at the films and slides dredged up from the basement. These four are 1983 Fuji slides, three from Ibiza and the last from Pippa's first trip to Canada. A miller Posted August 15, 2016 Share #19907 Posted August 15, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Adam , some colors of Provia are not so far from Ektar I think , you agree with me ? Nice color and perspective Thanks for posting Henry Thanks, Henry. This rendition of the Provia is a little atypical, I agree. But I don't think it resembles Ektar. Ektar would have rendered the sand with more of an orange/red cast. I was faced with some magenta in this image right out of the scan and had to correct it. The magenta was due to either (I) the heat to which the roll of film was exposed either during or after shooting, (ii) the extended time before I had the film processed or (iii) the deficiency in my (old) lab's E-6 processing (If you recall, I reported that the lab terminated its E-6 processing just a month after I had this roll developed)

wattsy Posted August 15, 2016 Share #19909 Posted August 15, 2016 A point of historical interest in this photo (and I don't mean my daughter in the zorb thing). The fields in the distance on Afton Down (more specifically those to the right of the telegraph pole) were the site of the legendary 1970 Isle of Wight festival where an estimated 600,000 people saw Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors and many many other great names take to the stage in various states of intoxication – an event which now seems to be one of those key markers that signalled the end of the 1960s (Hendrix himself was to die only 3 weeks later).

It must be a real delight pulling up these portals to the past. Even the humble postcard is becoming something of a lost art in these days of instant gratification (which is probably what my grandparents said about us, and our Morris Minor).
