Rollei 35RF, 2,8/40, Polypan-F @ 100, Rodinal

I can only support Wayne's statement. The most beautiful chicken in a while. And a great shot. Just one question: how did you manage the contrast between the chicken and the ( green ? ) background ? Is it the Polypan-F or an orange filter or did you pull something from your sleeve ?

Wayne, I had to come back to this picture a few time before I could decide what to make of it. The picture puts in a nutshell what a lot of scholarly books can't explain.  And won't be able to explain.  For me a little piece of art in its unobtrusive compassion.

I have been wondering what makes this picture so special. It seems it´s the blooming of the red light along the margins of the windows that makes a nice  photo into a great shot. It's not a bug (of the cinestill), but a feature, as they say. Well done, Antonio.

Beautiful portrait, rtai. The respect for these guys comes back as trust in the photographer thus resulting in a great photograph.

I was standing there, when a pigeon crapped on my head..........So I looked up. :) You know, they have no control over their sphincters. It is never personal.

Outstanding.

Klaus, Wayne,

Thank you for your comments. No orange filter used, nothing pulled from the sleeve, just the characteristics of wrongly stored age-old Polypan-F combining with certain lighting conditions in a fortuous manner, separating the light tones of the chicken and the darker ones of the background in just the right way. A typical case of: "the blind chicken occasionally also finds a seed" (badly translated German saying, but I trust you get the gist).

What a fabulous representation! Speaking of fabulous, the devastating Roman loss to Hannibal there in 217 catapulted Quintus Fabius Maximus into power. But he was soon replaced by aggressive consuls, leading to the even worse loss at Cannae. But one thing the Romans had already learned: even several terrible losses do not a final defeat make.
