That Pyrocat developer is really working well for you, Ken. Lovely picture.

Has that house pictured been in a movie about the Kennedys? It looks vaguely familiar.

Thanks, Phil. I really like it with Tri-X, which I've rediscovered.

It's not far from Newport, where John and Jackie were married, so perhaps someone did use it.

Hi Ken,

I understand Pyrocat is a staining developer. When I tried those in the past I got problems with printing them on Multigrade paper as the coloured stain interfered with any metering attempts and was not consistent from one developing batch to the next .
What are your experiences with printing (if any), and is the stain from Pyrocat coloured?

Thx, Christoph

Hi Christoph,

Thanks for this. I have not printed with it. But even with negatives turned into digital negatives and posted here, it's been a bit odd. I've sometimes seen the red/blue residual cast that Pyrocat has (I believe PMK has a different colored staining) and sometimes not. But I don't reintroduce Pyrocat a second time as many do for PMK (I develop 1:1;100 for, IIRC, 11 min at 75 degrees for Tri-X at box). Perhaps the variation in the staining is due to the condition of my alkaline fixer?

Very nice. Rodinal works so well for this type of imagery

28mm well used; the empty space emphasises the distance between your protagonists, with lots of room for interpretations of what happens next...

I like the cool gaze and posture, which harmonies well with the industrial-paint background and this could be an interesting starting point for a story...
