This is spectacular. The best child portrait that I can remember seeing. I have yet to explore the dark art of printing. Is this entirely a result of the negative, or did some of this magic result from your skill at printing?

Thank you so much for your kind words. Most of the magic was already on the negative, I just tried to emphasise it.

The negative looks more like this. All I did was (1) print brighter , (2) dodge the black part on the top right, bottom left and middle top and (3) use burning to bring back details on the main character.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. I really encourage you to give printing a try, it has been and still is eye opening for me.

Kodak Vision3 200T Silbersalz35 - M6J - 5cm Fujinon 1.2

Those movie based emulsions are - for me - the successors of the Kodachrome - especially when developed not in C-41 but in their own chemicals - and I suppose that Silbersalz is doing such (I understand that the colour reproduction suffers with C-41). What is your impression of this film?

I had to look twice to check if this picture is color or not... It well conveys the mood.

I generally agree with your printing encouragement (will have to go back there myself sometime...) but this unmanipulated picture speaks even more to me.

It may be unsharp, but still looks spectacular.

There’s a LTM version of the 50 Sonnetar?
I owned the M mount version for a while, it has a lovely rendering, but a little fiddly to use. I miss it…

He did make a few. I have had it for three or so years, but have neglected using it. As you say, it is a bit fiddly. On the up-side, it is surprisingly small and light; I would not give up the size and weight for less fiddly manipulation.

Every once-in-a-while, I look up MS Optical on world's largest garage sale. I have not seen a 1.1 Sonnetar in quite a while; but I do see a 1.5 version of Sonnetar frequently, although never in LTM. I think I am going to keep it.

the shot was at 1.1.

Thanks,

Wayne

Hello Christoph,

I find this Tungsten film very versatile, very nice latitude and not too grainy in bright daylight. Smooth colors with ECN2 . Next I'll try 50D and 250D , grain should be different.

200T Vision3 (exposed at 100 iso)

Very poetic, Wayne ! A nice collage of structures. Rhythm is the word.

Oh,  Mnutzer, you put the Weissenhof-Siedlung on my shortlist... so near and I've never been there.

That Pyrocat developer is really working well for you, Ken. Lovely picture.

Has that house pictured been in a movie about the Kennedys? It looks vaguely familiar.
