I'd like to pause here to thank Henry for starting this fabulous thread all those years ago.

It is interesting that despite the dominance of digital photography, a film thread (albeit one which allows photographs shot on any equipment and where most film photos on the Forum are posted regardless) is by far the most active thread on the forum.

It s also where I find most of the the best photographs. Always a delight to drop in on this thread.

3939 pages, 78763 posts and still going strong!

Mark 🙂

ps. and thanks to Andreas for allowing that break from forum protocol.

I agree.

I also like the fact that this thread isn't spoilt by a hierarchy of who can shout the loudest with no substance to support the noise.  Photography is about image making enjoyment and appreciation of the work of others.

Contributors here are all photographers!

Christoph, your Paris series is a real gem. I like this one particularly.

Very impressive Mark. I wonder how long the existence of 3 Hasselblad bodies on my shelf will protect me from buying a GW 690III...

Thank you Klaus.

The all-in-one-package, relatively light weight, Leica-type user interface, easy to hand-hold, fabulous lens, cheap price, and 50% more negative real-estate make it a great camera.  Although some people complained about the III being clad in plastic compared to the original models, it is much lighter and very comfortable to hold (especially in sub-zero temperatures 🙄).

I bought it for landscape/seascape for this trip (I also had an SL/SL2 system which performed flawlessly) and planned from the outset to crop many images to a 1:2.73 X-Pan format. The negatives are actually 83 x 56mm negative so will crop to 83 x 33mm for panoramas. You'll see most of my photos referred to earlier in this thread are cropped to that format.

Go on. You know you want one. Get on line right now and buy one 😁.

I see lots of very fine photographs by people who know what they are doing, and like you, love the fact the photos do the talking. I don't shoot as much film as I used to but I keep coming back here!

Penultimate sublime color field and those masterful margins! And that punctuation mark, nothing hesitant.

AArgh, I don't need MF GAS again, fortunately Antarctica is not on my doorstep so I couldn't emulate your glorious photos anyway Mark!

Very nice! Perfect light to complement and show the colours of the ice.  Looks like an amazing journey!
