It is interesting that despite the dominance of digital photography, a film thread (albeit one which allows photographs shot on any equipment and where most film photos on the Forum are posted regardless) is by far the most active thread on the forum. It s also where I find most of the the best photographs. Always a delight to drop in on this thread. 3939 pages, 78763 posts and still going strong! I especially love the old 1920s concrete bridge over to the island. Travelled light with a CL, 40 Summicron-C and Ektar. As it was intended as a compact (travel) Leica camera I took the Elmar-C 4/90mm lens along with the Summicron-C 2/40mm. At its time of introduction the CLwas the most compact full frame 35mm camera with exchangeable lenses and through the lens metering, and you still feel that (compared to a M). I have a rather nice Luigi leather half case for the CL, that does give the camera some heft, without impinging too much on the compactness - a very pleasant combination. As one end of the carrier strap is fitted to the camera, and the other end to the half case, changing film “in the wild” becomes interesting, as, when the camera is removed from the half case, the strap does not form a loop anymore and hangs loose around the neck - one end the half case and the other end the camera body. It does hold quite well in this way, but requires some getting-used-to. It rained a lot when we were there. A joy to use, performed flawlessly, but a shame there is no 220 roll film so only 8 very carefully considered shots per roll. I think this is the best all-rounder focal length and I'm a big user of 50 & 28mm equivalent combo. The GSW 65mm (~28mm equivalent) lens would pair nicely with it in general use but would have been less useful for me on this trip. I'd have liked to have also taken a Fujica G690 with a 180mm lens 😁. Didn't think of it. They're quite cheap. I've not posted any of my digital stuff which looks fabulous. Working on a book and exhibition of my film and digital. Long-term project 🙄. I posted these earlier in this thread. They are all preliminary Epson scans as I'm waiting to get them onto a Heidelberg drum scanner early next.
