I really dig this one, perfect timing, framing and exposure. I'm adding P30 to my ever-expanding list :)

Wonderful Martin. I really like the contrast between the wheel's structure, logic, control and the soft chaotic clouds.

This is great Bob. And it speaks to one of the fundamental tenets why analogue photography is so much more rewarding than digital, that it takes effort and consumes time to get the brilliant results of which it is capable.

Oh that is a nice smell. Though different beer, I remember the same smell from my time at Edinburgh Uni in the 90s.

If you happened to be in Melbourne, Australia, in the mid-1970s and traveled up Swanston Street, you would likely have noticed the powerful smell of beer being brewed, right in the middle of the city (Foster's Lager, anyone?).  A scan from a Pan-F negative (another fantastic emulsion for strong sunlight) taken in 1975, proving just how long a well-processed roll of film can last.

The Tram Controller's lookout is still there, but not much else and the trams aren't made of wood any more.

:) This would be the perfect partner Windows 95 wallpaper to Christoph's Landscha(a)p earlier. Truly brilliant Wayne.

Positively oppressive! Spock would have loved the strictly controlled logic of this eminently closed composition.

This is a great crop. And it changes the photo quite a bit, into a mirror. Reminds me of an error message I received the other week when I tried to use SuperDuper to clone a hard drive onto itself. That was apparently a bad idea because it would cause a never-ending hall of mirrors effect. That same day I logged onto my old Mac Pro 1,1 media server from another Mac using Screen Sharing. Accidentally I turned on screen sharing on that Mac Pro of the Mac from which I was already screen sharing. No such error message appeared but instead I got – literally – a hall of mirrors effect of the computers screen sharing each other seemingly into the distance of my 2D computer screen. Very weird that there was no warning. We have the same "mise en abyme" effect here, methinks. You photographing her, or did she take a picture of you first, perhaps it is not important, but one photo of another photo of the first photo of the second. Add that this apparently also happens over time, I mean it's still going on to this very day it seems, and that all of it is today displayed on computers across the globe, and I think I need to go and lie down a bit because my head's spinning from all this mirroring. And then we haven't even talked about how the other three persons in the doorway mirror each other's pose. All around great.

Thank you Rog. I'd never actually considered the crop as suggested, but it does rid the composition of the SUV and center the rest of it. Hmm. The picture does, as you suggest, then become something different. I'd always considered the interest to be in the girl wearing that old-fashioned, perhaps Amish?, bonnet amongst the other visual elements but your suggestion certainly works on a higher level. There you go, we can sometimes be blinkered to seeing our work in one way, and all it takes is a slight nudge in a different direction and the ideas mutate into something else. The brilliance, might I add, of this thread. And, yes, I do believe the lady in the back had her camera raised.

Hi Wayne,

The view of a human with a Kodak seems to elicit astonishment.

The view of a human with a Leica seems to cause amusement :(

Yes. By all means. As I trek the same routes, I am constantly amazed by those brief moments and developments that, at first, seem so mundane, but as they pass you by, you begin to understand that they are the building blocks of life; taking a photo of them seems like a way of not taking them and life for granted. It is good to have a place like this to share them.

Best,

Wayne

That's a very good  explanation why to take photographs and why it is so satisfying. I fully agree.

Summertime VIII

This year, traveling around in my holidays was not really a good option. But the hammock was. This is what I saw:

Ha, you did it again. Sending me to the books. 🙄...

I remember rolling on the floor and/or trying to discover the political message behind the  wordplay some decades ago... Today you find me musing about this specific color field and its connection with  Ionesco...

I had some "4-seasons-film" Silbersalz 250D in my M3 with summicron 50.
i send them very late to the lab and did not like the colors of the labscans so much.
I rescanned the negs with my GH5 and the PanaLeica-Macro.

Foggy and cold woodland from late october 2019.
if i had waited another 2 months i could have post them as new shots ;).

Edit: Can post only one picture. I should become a premium member...😉
