Honestly Paul, I could look at your photos all day.

Pete

I don’t want to give him a big head ( 😉 ) but so could I. He’s a very experienced and accomplished photographer with a fabulous eye for content and framing. I find his work quite educational to be honest. Some of the images presented above are the sort of events I would see and not consider photograph-worthy. I think I need to shoot more based on gut feel and stop pondering so much. Also try to be more project orientated with a point of departure as Ralph Gibson would say.

You've got to ask yourself why photography is so difficult, I mean it’s just a light tight box with a photo-sensitive sensor of some kind and a lens to focus the image. What could be more simple, right?! - Wrong!!

Wherever you go, your hometown, my hometown, or Bruce’s hometown, you see this face of “progress“. Well captured. And I like your choices of lens - a little jewel - and film.

Well I finally did it, not easy given work, I starting developing my own black and white. The few shots below are Ilford HP5+ developed in DD-X. Nothing fancy, just ABC from the Ilford instructions. It was one of my goals this year in photography, the other getting into a studio and learning lights to take portraits. Covid took care of that. Anyway, just proud to share some pics, not that developing is all that hard but there is a satisfaction to doing things yourself (at least for me).

Good work, Steve! This is a small step for mankind, but a great leap for a man! I can absolutely understand your feelings, esp. the first roll coming out of the development tank is a great experience.

The streets of Soho - London UK.

From My project - "Living like this"  - Life in the UK.

With my all time favourite combination of my 1936 Leica 111A,  50mm Elmar lens and Kodak TRI-X film in Kodak D76 1+1.

Just to hold this jewel and look at life through it's tiny viewfinder - more than photography it's an emotional experience.

A beautiful camera who's little click slips between the heartbeats.

As Robert Capa said    "I had my little Leica with me"

Your skills are outstanding. I am a great admirer of your series and the efforts you put in your projects. And yes, those little cameras are some nice tools.

I would say this is certainly great use of the Xpan. There is no camera that gives greater ability to isolate a subject.

Best,

No quickly scrawled, nonsensical posters there; and I bet the spelling and punctuation is correct. Nice.
