Moonlike doesn't even begin to describe this. Wow, what a scene. I like that you crushed the blacks too because it makes it difficult to tell if it's sand or snow we're seeing. Sterling stuff.

I agree with Charles, this is such an exciting photograph. Bridges are to me a bit like doors, interfaces between places. Usually a good thing but today with the pandemic going on there's suddenly a more sinister touch. That aside, this is such an interesting design. A truly peculiar bridge.

Haha thank you very much for your kind comments and hilarious commentary!

@verwackeltyours made me think of the great movie I, Robot and that scene where Dr Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) wonders:

"There have always been ghosts in the machine. Random segments of code, that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols. Unanticipated, these free radicals engender questions of free will, creativity, and even the nature of what we might call the soul. Why is it that when some robots are left in darkness, they will seek out the light? Why is it that when robots are stored in an empty space, they will group together, rather than stand alone? How do we explain this behavior? Random segments of code? Or is it something more? When does a perceptual schematic become consciousness? When does a difference engine become the search for truth? When does a personality simulation become the bitter mote... of a soul?"

There's a great sense of satisfaction to make things with one's hands and it shows in this image. I really like how he concentrates on his work. Then again, he might just as well be thinking about what he'll do tonight :D Either way a great reportage-style photo.

Thanks for taking out the Minox for a spin, Wayne. I've missed these little pictures of yours. Like a painting.

Huh, what do you mean my lab looks funny? :D

But wow, Provia 1600. Those were the days. In today's slight resurgence of film I wish, really really wish, for a manufacturer to bring back higher-ISO transparency film. I miss such films a lot.

Very beautiful photo and perfectly composed. The slight solarised effect is quite pleasing too.

Hahahahahahaha, I just love how you phrase things, Rog. It's a terrific photo. Like a bright-eyed Saul Leiter, up close and personal with the tree trunk which begs the question what really is the motif of the image, the sum of its parts or one of the components. Whatever it is I really enjoy the mix and the whole.

I'm just going to freestyle off what Philip Said above about these two marvelous pictures. As Philip observes, they're structurally virtual opposites - one colour, one black and white, and are even constructed to be virtual mirrors of each other - one with the tree vertical on the right with a mass of forest on the other side, the other with the tree on the left and a mass of logs on the other side. It's crazy that these two wonderful pictures are juxtaposed as successive posts. But I guess that's what serendipity is.
