Very funny, Rog.  But with the coming exhibition in LA , you might get up by now...   The  exhibition in Düsseldorf 2005  I certainly do remember---  Of course I had heard of Richter and seen the most iconic stuff like Betty  and Ema-nude on a staircase-... but wasn't prepared for the vast range of styles, themes and approaches... from lovely landscapes to harsh political statements ( Stammheim, nurses) and from nice little, living room compatible formats to  these huge, overwhelming 8 Grays... the whole expo enfolded  in the small to medium sized rooms of the Kunstsammlung NRW-and on the end of the tour you came to the Grand Finale-the awe inspiring Totem Poles of Eight Grays.. People got silent there, walking about carefully, as if not to draw the attention of these towering and shimmering painted glasses looking down on them... The expo put Richter really on the map for me.. and what like about him personally is the fact that despite his enormous success he still seems quite sane...

You betray your affection for prime numbers, allowing instinctively only 13 actors on this stage at the Kunsthalle with Eliasson's sphere hovering so asymmetrically. Thanks for opening landscape on Richter and his Eight Gray.  Definitely, the photographs in all the books don't do this work justice. I took a look at one of his interviews on YouTube, and he commented specifically on the "looking through the window" aspect of the glass panels, but, at the same time, the window is a barrier. I recall him remarking the effect of the reflections, and I remember that Francis Bacon wanted reflective glass in the framing of his paintings "to include the viewer in the painting." Years back, I was put off at a major Bacon exhibit here at LACMA because there was glass in front of many of the paintings, which I assumed was more for security, and thought that the museum lighting could have minimized the reflections. Silly, me. Yes, Richter is amazing, not shying from experimental expressions. While two-thirds of his work is abstract, the balance owes a debt to his use of the photograph. So much can be said (and learned from) Richter, his production is prodigious, and he's so accessible, apparently.

Mark Tansey would be among the first to admire this engaging photograph; recall his enigmatic painting, "The Innocent Eye Test,"  hanging in the Met. What catches me in your work here is the framing, abstracting the cow's hide, not to mention these colors!

Another enigmatic moment, lifted from life with such an artful play of shadow and light, a solitary figure with an air of history, arms folded (as if perhaps "wounded," as you allow) at the empty entrance to the club. Empty luggage cart. Just the reflection of a passing car behind us. I want to call this guy, Tony or Gino, but what do I know. It's usually paranoia that grabs me by the throat.

Philips, a sad chapter of history I presume. But one worth to remember in order to learn from.

Antonio, what a brooding, may I say foreboding atmosphere? I like your use of this specific emulsion.

Medusa or Tree? I think I mentioned it before: you may like to explore the qualities of Lomo Metropolis. Similar in many respects though perhaps a bit more fickle in its colour balance. And the scan is not quite as sharp...

That time when you find a roll in your drawer, develop it, and find it was from last June. Anyway, pleasant discovery! Leica M2 with a Summaron 35/3.5, Delta 400 in Xtol 1:1.

One of the rangers at our local park had some fun while cutting down trees, and craftily carved a face on this piece of wood with his chainsaw. It's been floating in the lake for over a year now. Here's my last sighting of what I now call the Buddha of the Lake.
