She does bear a striking resemblance to Napoleon's first wife - perhaps she's keeping his coat warm while he's away during the Egyptian campaign? This one certainly gets a tick, Toks. 2

I personally don’t think any processing that gets you the picture you want is bad practice. It may or may not end up being a close facsimile of what you saw when you took it, but its future is in the photographer’s hands - if it is more desirable to tweak things one way or another, then what’s wrong with that? And of course you can always re-scan and re-edit as much as you want. As for digital printing, I’m happy with Canson papers, and Platine is my go-to. Some pictures look great on textured and/or matt papers like Aquarelle or BFK Rives, too, so it’s really horses for courses. Thank you, too, along with Jean-Marc and Xicara for your interesting discussion about photography in Brazil. It sounds as though there’s quite a lot to consider when stepping out to photograph. By the look of the pictures you’re all producing, though, a vastly stimulating and worthwhile exercise. Just please take care, all of you! Thanks for the advice, I printed the pics on standart paper and they came out so different than digital!! More painterly, softer texture and colors. I have been unhappy for years with digital for its plastic look and the need to overprocess to get some interest in the photos. Film is a bit of a pain but the result is grand. Im up in the US in APril and will buy a load of film and loaders, canisters, and monobath etc. Good times. Here we have a 200% tariff on anything over $50. Its a black hole. Street photography is not like London, you have to know where and when to go to risk your Leica. There is an old favela Brasilia Teimosa where I made these shots, and I am getting to know the fishermen there. I will build a network and try to get deeper in to photograph. I used to do fieldwork in dangerous situations, Nicaraguan Revolution, Mexican elections, interviewing the clandestine left during the Brazilian dictatorship, etc. so I am fairly street wise, but luck plays a big part too. I will pay some guys to accompany me and introduce me around. Brazilians are really cordially people generally, only a few bad apples. Here is some more of the fishing village. Welcome, dear visitor!
