A memory from my boat excursion on the Dead Sea last summer.  We stopped at this spot and everyone got out of the boat for 10 minutes which is about the time it took for me to find a spot, set up, compose, expose and pack up 😅

These salt formations are shaped like mushroom-chimneys by reason of the fact that 10,000-year old sweet rain water is located below the floor of the sea and it percolates up and penetrates the sea floor and comes up through the center of the chimney tops.  Pretty cool.

Velvia 50, Technorama 617siii, 90mm Super Angulon XL, with a center filter and polarizing filter

My GAS is pushing me inexorably towards the acquisition of a Leica iiif or iiic and you, my friend, are not helping, with your beautiful images!

I already have 2 totally mechanical cameras - the Hasselblad 503cx and the Mamiya C220 so am used to the process but do you have any advice for me??

Hi nefarious, thanks! I think you can't go wrong with a good IIIf. But one thing that I've found is that I get much better results with a lens hood, at least with the two lenses that I have for it, and this requires an external finder. I've been using an ill-aligned KMZ turret finder and I'm constantly looking a better alternative that's a affordable over here. While the IIIf is a lovely device and so well made, if I had the money spare, I'd get an M2 which has 35mm and 50mm frame lines (for my 2 lenses) or an M5 for the meter as well. But I'm very happy with the IIIf and one day soon I'll get the finder situation worked out! All the best!

Thank you for the advice - I guess it's easy enough to start with a body and lens then add a hood and finder later.  I suppose they will make the kit slightly less 'pocketable' though...
