I like film...(open thread)

Wayne, Keith, Nefarious, thank you very much! Well spotted Wayne, the walls are quite damaged. And yes indeed, the windows are covered by these pretty spectacular gratings, sort of like stylised water flowing down the sides of the building. It is indeed a mosaic surrounding the post, but it is extremely dirty. I have a feeling this place looked amazing when operational.

This, too, is spectacular. Of all the features, the hitch in the ramp, top, just right of center, draws my attention. Right after the spectacular gratings over the windows...…….I assume they are gratings. Is that a mosaic surrounding the bottom of the post?

Best,

Wayne

Really enjoying your Georgia series, Philip!

Fantastic, I love this one. Look at the low clouds or fog in the valley, just sublime.

I like the atmosphere in this one. Funny, I just watched Knives Out yesterday night and this image reminds me of the house used in that movie.

Back to the foggy day shots on Ilford Ortho Plus. These are the 2 most popular on Instagram; the 2nd probably being my favourite. The fog providing a spookiness to the deserted buildings that appealed to me!

On Hasselblad 503cx, Zeiss Planar CF 80mm f/2.8, as usual

Oh love the colours and composition here, well spotted.

Easily one of your best Jörg, very very well done. How long was the exposure?

Thank you, Philip. I have to say, that this is not a long time exposure😔 It is part of my "nature.digital.art"-series and I did this effect in Photoshop. Normally I use digital pictures for this kind of processing. Here I tried out an analogue picture and was suprised, how good it works😉

Regards Joerg

Magnificently mucky, Patrick.  Enjoyed so much more on my full screen vs your IG feed on my phone.

I'm continuing our little Tbilisi tour with this. I have twice visited the wonderful Fotografia gallery in Tbilisi, both during the autumn of 2018 and during the spring of 2019  (well worth a visit, also online). While there, I saw some shots (like this one) taken in a really interesting location, in what looked like an oval building with stairs on all sides snaking themselves up to something above. The structure looked quite large, but as my friend took me there during my second visit to Tbilisi - by chance actually (serendipity!) - I was surprised to see that it is actually quite small. There is no entrance but one has to squeeze in through broken windows and crawl on the floor among dust and debris.

The structure is an old funicular station built in 1905 in the yard of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences off one of the main avenues, the Rustaveli Avenue. It was built to connect the lower/centre of Tbilisi with the "upper" Tbilisi which is the part on the mountain side surrounding the city. As can be seen in the images that follow it isn't operational and hasn't been for quite some time. Apparently there is a plan to restore the building and the funicular too, which made me happy that I got to go there before that happens and it becomes all nice and shiny again.

This is awesome, Philip.  So well composed and executed from end to end.  Bravo!!

Incredible, Joerg - The juxtaposition of the dynamic motion and idle individual is so awesome!
