Wonderful landscape! A bit to much magenta, in my opinion, though...

Really excellent result, James.  Wonderful scenery there - we spent some time in 2007 cycling along the Elbe and hiking in the Nationalpark Sächsische Schweiz (Lilienstein, the Bastei etc). Had a great time - but I was a lot fitter then!

Hello Dirk, it might be my monitor again, but I think the white balance is way off. I played with your file in Lightroom, and with just some clicks I came to a picture that seems more realistic. If you agree, I could post the altered version.

yes sure. I didn't change anything on the white balance. Just took it as it came from the scanner. Please post the picture and it would be also kind to tell me your settings for the white balance.

Ahoy film friends

I'm back after two weeks away in uniform which has been great, only matched in terms of joy by the possibility of catching up with 15+ pages of absolutely awesome photography, really fantastic stuff all around, well done everyone.

I'm in the process of going through a bunch of films so in the meantime, here's one from skiing earlier this year in Sälen, Sweden, shot that same morning the Moon peeked over the ridge which I posted (quite) a while back. I'm not sure what to make of the new Ektachrome but this is pretty much what the slide looks like on the light table. Still I like the colours a lot actually.

Love the mood, Philip.  And welcome back.

Thank you all for your feedback, this is much appreciated! Your thoughts, esp. from Michael and Adan are very useful. I tried to find different purses from the 1950s but have not found a similar one - but I am not the best expert for purses :) I also like the comparison to Aladdin's genie, what a cool thought! It is indeed a magical thing to bring these people "back to life" this way. All in all I have 14 pictures on the roll, here come 4 more:

thanks for sharing these, James  So interesting.

This is such a dramatic silhouette. I really like that one can't see any lights or windows because it sort of breaks the scene down to its basic building blocks somehow.

I don't know how you do it but all these wonderful photos from Scotland have a really amazing light. I don't really know how to describe it but it's at once barren, Moon-like and ruggedly rough (if light can be that). Just great and this one is particularly good.

Adam, being a romantic, I assume that it was the rainbow over the couple that captured your attention. Perhaps an  omen, predicting a happy future for the couple ?

Adan, after coming back a couple of times, I decide on this one to be my actual favorite of the milepost series...the whole series made me aware  about how  powerful it is  to have  a project... You nudge me into finding  a project for myself now...

Well seen James. Combining murals with street life is a rewarding albeit demanding task...

Rog, I perceive this as a rhythm turned color and form--if that's what you call cinematic, I'm happy to agree.

In the summer, my wife and me spent 3 weeks in Tenna,  a really small village in the Safiental, Graubünden,  Switzerland. The village lies at the end of the road at 1600 m as. The inhabitants of this valley speak a german dialect, while the inhabitants of the neighbor valley speak a kind of medieval latin. So the peak you can see is called Piz Fess,   like in fissure, meaning the split peak. The trip up there  takes 7 hours , and afterwards you feel kinda split too...
