The light range was excruciating for the film to render; I edited the photo, pulled out some shadows in "Photos" on the Macbook.

Nice, your pulling worked out amiably.

When did you visit that photogenic town in southern France? We just could have met...

Hi Nefarious, Andy's description is spot on. I wrote an article about this wonderful piece of equipment on my site in case you want to read about it https://philipus.com/pc-mutar because I didn't find much info about it on the interwebz. It looks like this:

I hate to "like" this  but it's a great picture. Greta would be proud to see this :D

I can almost hear the Miami Vice theme :D Great colours too.

I think you did a great job. I visited Arles for the first time this summer and really enjoyed it. Really longing to go back actually.

The film and the flare fit the motif perfectly Rog. Seeing grain like this makes me want to blow the picture up to 11 on the humongous scale and put it on a wall.

Ha ha, Greta can suck it all up for all I care :)  Thanks, though.

And, man, you son of a b$tch just cost me $750 with your review of the PC Mutar.  Thanks a lot!!!

Seriously, it's beyond awesome.  I had never know that an upward shift adapter existed with the Hassy system.  It in a way tempts me to swap my SWC for the 40mm so that I can avail myself of this functionality.  Rise and fall are hugely handy with landscapes and cityscapes.  What do people think???? @adan

Me likes this version very much, Adam :) I doubt it could be done much better. What is the biggest possible print size of such a pano? Must be HUGE, me thinks...

thanks, Gentlemen.

James - up to 300cmx100cm should be brilliant. 😍

That is exactly the same thing I have in mind every time I see this boat :)

Very nice, James.  Looks like it could be the Tel Aviv Marina.....?

Thanks, Adam! This picture is from the small marina in Kühlungsborn at the coast of the Baltic Sea. It is one of our favorite spots for short trips.

Hmmmmmm... good question. In some ways I do, because there is just enough information for us to deduce what is going on in the picture and that the incredible artistry and detail goes well beyond the single figure. On the other hand the ability to see some more of the richness of that detail is appreciated - and the depth of field is still limited, so much of what applies in the lower d-o-f picture still applies. Overall I think I slightly lean towards the first picture. So glad you had such a great experience and tried something a bit different!

Hands down, the first one. Natural vision throws peripheral out of focus, so it's overkill in the second. Still, you placed the focal point figure in the center of the frame. Did you consider putting that figure in the right third of the composition for asymmetry? (It's bas relief.)

...and talking about aesthetic perception, look at the incredible juxtaposition here between colors on the warm end of the spectrum, opposed to colors on the cool end. The visceral reaction is quite marked, or at least mine is. Each tells quite a different story, even though compositionally they are almost identical. Wonderful - thanks Rog.
