Hah! Looks just like an image one of my classmates took around 1978 - except the "incoming" was a hockey puck (he was shooting a "winter weather" picture for a newspaper).

Got 27 stitches (and his 15 minutes of nationwide fame).

Salut Henry, this is interesting though a bit sad and somewhat difficult to understand. A bit sad, because he has always provided really insightful lens reviews which have helped me in selecting equipment, and difficult to understand, because why couldn't he just continue admiring and writing about the M system and ignore the rest? Seems illogical to marry himself so closely to the brand that developments with respect to other cameras makes that connection unbearable. I have a feeling that were it not for the developments of the other camera systems the M system would die a commercial death and that would just be sad for all.

Philip , I know we can not stop progress , but "profit"  above all at the expense of health , an electronic viewfinder in a camera is "dangerous" for the eye's retina , Leica or Canikon knows it  ?

Nothing beats a classic rangefinder at the Cartier Bresson manner , sensors that corrode as in the M9 , race camera software all is not for me , it's over and I'm not interested anymore !

Erwin Puts is right !

Seems like ages since I posted in this thread... here are some more images from the State of Independence series, documenting the Catalan independence movement in Barcelona. These are from the last couple of weeks, where the region has fallen in to some fairly rough and violent times.

All with the M7 and some kind of 50mm lens (I kept switching between the 50LUX and a C-Sonnar, partly because using an expensive lens was making me nervous), and using Delta 400 exposed for EI1600 and developed in XTOL stock for EI3200.

The photographs are all from a much longer blog post which includes commentary and many more images. The national-populist tide that is sweeping Europe makes for some interesting pictures, but I keep thinking that I would rather spend a year with nothing more to photograph than colourful landscapes.

Great series of these turbulent times ! Stay safe!

Very cool shots, Steve! I dearly remember this place  - although it was a bit wet the day you walked around town with us :)

The colors on film are so exceptionally good! Great memories preserved.

Nikon F6 & Ektachrome

A wonderful portrait of a beautiful woman. I have to admit, that I struggle a bit with this picture nonetheless. I am not at all sure, what the main aim of this composition might be. There is this strong gaze right into the eyes of the observer, with just a slight hint towards a smile. And then there is this erotic element, which leaves me confused. I know from your work that you almost always play with these elements, but in no other picture before it felt this annoying to me. The longer I think about it, I tend to pledge for another composition which cuts of the lower fourth of the picture to get rid of the distraction I feel as a white old man who is controlled by ages old instincts and hormones :)

Despite the brutal architecture I am amazed by the zig-zag-lines you captured so well in this interesting composition. Interesting characters on the cars, btw. Can't make out anything, only something ending in "mashvili"...

Coincidentally, Doc Henry was mentioning the attributes of the M viewfinder and a warning of retinal damage of the digital viewfinder, while at the same time, I was working on this photo-sketch, thinking of camera vision as a mirror of inner eye vision, as in film = retina. Site citation of sight calculation.

Thank you very much James, those lines actually drew me to this scene, believe it or not. Many Georgian surnames end with "shvili" which means, I've been told, "child". This is a common ending in certain parts of the country. In other parts the ending is "dze" meaning "son". The alphabet is nothing short of beautiful and I remember often being mesmerised by the letters' shapes which more resemble pictograms than letters.

Wonderful Pritam. A few years ago in LFI there was an article about an Italian photographer whose name I have forgotten who shot landscape photos in B&W with specks of people in them. I remember he was sometimes called the Italian HCB but the name escapes me now. This photo is a colour equivalent, just great.

Very intriguing image and coincidence, too.
