I had the intention to show some pictures of this years summer vacation, but sadly the 25 rolls I shot  ( together with two blad lenses and my laptop) found a new home...🙄

So, this is from last year: my wife and me did a hiking tour in the area of the Uckermark--an area between the baltic sea and Berlin.  Very depopulated, in a way exotic for a west german.... Ice age has left numerous small and shallow lakes...perfect for a dip at the end of the hiking day..

Coming back a couple of times to this diptych with its intriguing setup .... a fragile construction of decomposed fabric held together by a seemingly solid thread...but , the sky gives it away,   Atropos is waiting already to cut this thread and all will fall apart. a rather desperate diptych you show us here, Rog. Thank God, we are all relaxed and fortified by weeks of sun and beach and  fun... So a bit of reality won't do us any harm 😐

You've always an engaging narrative to fill the gaps, which is what I was trying to pencil in with this somewhat uncharacteristic Kauai edit. My sun and beach and fun had an unwelcome pause with a nasty chest cold that knocked seven days off the shooting schedule. I was able to shoot only 5 rolls (3 ADOX and 2 E100). I guess this is where the "furnace from hell" comes in to subliminally warm things up a bit. Back in the swing, now, making do with the few shots that managed to surface for salvage. And, hey, the Mop Head family appreciates your recognition, often complaining that their dreadlocks don't get the respect they earn, hanging out at the back door of Sueoka Market in Koloa.

Eastman 5222 is also known as double X - another movie film. I don’t know if it has a Rem-jet layer. If it does, then that would be removed by companies like Cinestill together with any anti-halation layer, for packaging and sales in 35mm format.

You could also try Polypan 50, though I am not sure it is still available.

I found some interesting infos about Rem - Jet :

Thanks JM

Reading the linked thread I suspect it's a lost cause looking for a B&W film without anti-halation properties. If the info is factual, it appears the grey base on 35mm film attenuates the halation. This is bad news - where's my black arm band?!

The way the figure moves a little hesitatingly, perhaps uncertainly towards the dark, shadowy area lifts this to the stratospheric.

I don't think I've posted this image here before. It's in my photobook, which will be presented at Offprint Paris 2019 held at the École des Beaux-Arts concurrently with Paris Photo, on 7-10 November. I've lucked out in working with what I call the Hollander Dream Team for the collaborative effort of publishing this book, comprising a photobook designer/editor, a hand bookbinder and a lithographer — all three at the top of their field in the Netherlands and internationally, having together produced many prize-winning photobooks. See my LUF thread, Photobook Publishing and its Discontents.

Usually street photographs taken from the back don't work well, but I feel this one is an exception. Also, as the various versions of my book progressed I found, increasingly, that I had to come to grips with how street photography works: much of it may appear meaningless unless you find that you've engaged with the subject in some way or that the image has some immediacy. In the market for contemporary phonebooks, the feeling is that street photography, generally, has become a spent force. I found that my book worked better when street photography was not the only, or the major, genre in the sequence of pictures.

Congratulations, Nowhere, on the publication of your book project and exhibition. It's inspiring to see film photography take center stage where it belongs.

I also share your belief that street photography - or any photography for that matter - is a spent force in contemporary phonebooks.

the symphony of blues, the horizontal and vertical horizons giving a firm structure, the shadow in the foreground- seemingly simple but: simply perfect in composition and color

meet the mop family.... Daddy is bit tired.... Nice confrontation of colors, love it.

THANK YOU so much, Klaus, I really appreciate those words!

Thanks. Yes, the automatic spelling correction always causes trouble!  The other problem is that the photobook world uses the one-word spelling while the real word still uses "photo book".

Here's my day, so far: received two Gagosian books of Helen Frankenthaler's exhibits, and now this, constructivist meets color field to the hummed tune of color Kline, action Pollock, excuse me, I'm hyperventilating. Breathe deeply, breathe, okay. Deftly articulated range of exposure. Sign the contract with Velvia. Go ahead.

😂 I'll have my people meet with Velvia's people - maybe they can do lunch - and throw a few numbers around. Seriously, thank you Rog. The funny thing is, this wall is no more 😢 and belonged to a warehouse that has since been converted into ritzy apartments  and my brother-in-law and his wife bought one. I'll have to give them a print.

Oh, oh, red alert at intermission as thundrous clouds gather in the afternoon. What can it all mean? But that's the point, isn't it?
