Wonderful way to preserve those memories!

Thanks, James. I owe it to my wife to first scan in the few dozen rolls of family photos, but then i get on to the fun stuff.  Barry is the real deal and someone who is a lot like me in terms of what he likes to shoot and his overall approach, which makes him a really fun shooting partner.  I of course inspired him to buy a proper film camera for his beach photography (a waterproof Nikon Action Touch).  And then was even more devilish with another one of my friends over, Assaf ( www.instagram.com/hyperfocal_freedom ), who loved my IIIg set up so much that he ran out and bought an M2, driving all the way across the country to pick it up, only to belated discover that it still had the “L” seal affixed, which then caused him to ship it to Boston to have it CLA’d. 🙂.

I am quite the ambassador for film! 😉

Here is one of my wife and daughter in Jerusalem during the Bat Mitzvah party that we had for her (she just turned 12).

Nor should you 🙂

The goal of summer is to take as many photos as possible so that the scanning and editing helps us get through winter 🙂

Koloa Elevator Triptych Pano
M-A Thambar-M CS f/4.5 ADOX Color Implosion
Panorama study with obvious "stitching," playing off the illusion of a landscape that is neither a landscape nor a panorama, but simply afternoon reflections in a stainless steel elevator door. The wash of color is impressionistic, but this lens has a simultaneous sharpness and "glow" that amps the toxic grain of ADOX Color Implosion. Thanks to Adam for introducing me to the toxicity of this insane emulsion, no longer available, except maybe in a hidden freezer at Machu Picchu. Perhaps, a similar effect is possible with the likewise discontinued Fuji Natura 1600 that Wayne so generously sent me and is complaining to be scanned.

For anyone wondering about high resolution B&W film, this is a Minox subminiature frame taken on ADOX CMS20 II Pro. Developed in HC110 1:120, 15 minutes, 15 second initial agitation & one 10 second agitation at half-way.

Oh! It is the original Subaru. I kind of see a hint of the Fiat Cinquecento in it. :)

Love the colours from this film.

You are not alone :) Yes, these films do not replicate the colors of the scenes in a 1:1 way, but nonetheless the results are really pleasing - at least to me and some other folks around here. If you are capable of german language or don't hesitate to use a translating software, you might find out in the thread about Silbersalz films in the german analog forum, that there are some people complaining about the oh so bad quality of this material and how frightening it is to be pleased by such low quality. How does it come to these differences in the reception of this material, I wonder?

I would certainly be in the market for an ADOX Toxic Grain Dowser, if such an animal existed, but for the time being, the ultimate "dowser" is LUF because if it weren't for your awesome ADOX NYC street photography, I would be more than lukewarm clueless. Thanks so much for sharing. And, thanks for your generous comments. I thought you would get a kick out of my "poor man's" 6x17 pano that isn't a pano.

6 days left to availability of the films 😉
May be some people put that film in C41? So the results should be dissapointing then.
I am very curious to try that film.
I will also take the "negatives back" option to test a RA4 print and to do digital reproduction to compare with their scans…

Rog, do not put your hopes up too high. When I heard that Adox CE was discontinued, I looked around and bought a few rolls of Natura 1600 to see if that could be a replacement. Well, I thought it could be, though it has definitely a different character altogether. And then it could not be - as it too was discontinued ... I dare not say which film I am eying now (Fuji Industrial 400 was discontinued before I had even the chance to try it) for fear of further discontinuations...

I don’t know about Silbersalz, but I really like the original Vision 3 films. Really pleasing results - as you say. But if it goes wrong - and the removal of that Rem-jet layer gives you a helping hand or two plus ample opportunities to go wrong - then it really goes wrong badly. Still, very satisfying if it does not ... :)
