Thanks, Adam! It is none of my favorite pieces of art, either - but it will be a constant reminder of our walk through Central Park with @stuny, as we met at this location on a nice sunny morning :)

Here you can see him with my son, who performed some of his magic card tricks on him:

love these, James.  I really regret not be able to meet your family.  @stuny has one up on me now :)

My favorite Mexican restaurant.  It used to be a muffler shop.

Love that Taco joint, Ray.    What film?

I posted this in a film developing-related topic in the Film forum, but perhaps it fits here too.

Rog, #  60534 is not available on my screen. I thought it was my i- Mac, but it also doesn't show on my tablet.  Only  a question mark. Question marks are ok, but that's not what you intended ?   K.

great colors,  I love these particular greens and blues.

Just got my book on J. Albers and will sink my teeth in it--to understand that "transparency" thing.  K.

That is terrific optical quality Wayne, and colours are spot on too. Are there a lot of houses with these types of bricks where you live? I'm asking because here in the Netherlands pretty much every house that isn't a modern house is built with such bricks.

Aurora, IN is an old river town on the Ohio. Culturally it is predominantly German. The local folks are constantly doing what they can to dress it up. Yes, almost the entire town is brick....of the type shown in the photo. Thanks for the comment.

Best,

Wayne

I’ve just ordered a new strap for my Hassy 503CW, so along with the 40 odd roles of color and B&W 120 film I’m going to have another go at shooting 6x6.

Question.

When out shooting street style photography when it’s impossible to meter for each shot, how to you guess/meter a scene?

Neil,

the good news is, the new strap does not influence the setting... 😀usually, when I go around with my old 500CM and the 80 Plannar, I simply set it on f8/125, in case of lowe light at f5,6/125, for ASA100-160 color film.

Andreas

PS: Since your are traveling in Japan, if time allows, pay a visit to Yodobashi or BICCamera shops in Tokyo, they keep still a nice range of 120 films (but much less than 20 years ago...)

Neil, you could probably start by having a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunny_16_rule

There used to be an app for iPhone called Expositor which was a simple slide-rule type of app which helped me memorise Sunny 16. The list below is a summary. Just pick the f/stop indicated based on the light/scene and use 1/film ISO as shutter speed.

Hard shadows 16
Soft shadows 11
No shadows 8
Overcast 5.6
Very overcast/shade 4
Twilight/spot-lit 2.8
Darker twilight/spot-lit 2
Bright night out 1.4
Bright day in 1.4

Then for even darker scenes, compensate by your shutter speed:

Night street: shutter slower by 1 stop
Indoors: slower by 2 stops
- shady day
- bright night
Indoors: slower by 3 stops
- average night
- firelight
Bright streetlight slower by 4 stops
Indoors, candlelit slower by 4 stops
Average street light/dim interior slower by 5 stops
