A view towards the stern of SS Wandering Comet, with the supergiant Alpha Aquarii peaking through between the main engine and the rear garbage incinerator at lower right.

Very interesting, Phil.  They seem to be chicken dealers of sorts?

Thank you so much, Adam. Until I processed this photo again I thought, as you did, that they were making birdcages. I now realize (mostly from other pictures taken at the same time) that they are baskets for fruit and vegetables. I wonder if they still do this, or have the ubiquitous plastic bags taken over? BY the way, the surreal Dead Sea landscape is stunning, as are your Road to Jericho pictures and others. I imagine you could collate quite a strange, surreal exhibition of pictures taken in this other-worldly landscape, with the light as you have waited for it.

So when did you get beamed down again, Scotty er Philip? Your time in space must have been incredible!

Thank you sincerely for your wide-ranging discussion based on Rog's ~tyches and constructs. This whole are a of metaphor and color is fascinating, and has an application to the universal insofar as I now look a lot closer at what is happening in pictures, especially color ones, where there is a nagging pull one way or the other suggesting there is something beyond the surface going on in the picture. An example is Adam's comment above about my own picture of the wooden-cage makers - I think the head poking out with its red ribbon suggests a chicken, therefore we think birdcages. But looking at, for example, James' Easter bonnet parade pictures and M9Reno's boy in the street - among many others - all make you want to know MORE.

Picket fence in Tri-X.

This is wonderful, Pritam. I've recently been reading about and looking at the work of Paul Strand and this reminds me very much of some of his work. And yet another reminder, as if we needed it, of what a sensational film Tri-X is in the right hands.
